पिया बसंती रे
काहे सताए…आजा
A real woman is beautiful – every way – in all her emotions & moods. At Asopalav, we celebrate this all-encompassing, endearing beauty – by creating functional and flattering designs for all moods, occasions and ages/ stages of life.
Featured here is a majestic Bandhani creation – hand-crafted in stunning scarlet Bandhani fabric – sourced from traditional Bandhej makers from Jamnagar, Gujarat. We support & promote locally sourced, locally produced weaves & crafts.
What is Bandhani? - Coming from the Sanskrit word ‘bandha’ – literally meaning tying – Bandhani is an indigenous Tie & Dye fabric craft – that produces stunning dotted patterns. Leheriya, Shibori, Marbling are other tie & dye practices, but Bandhani holds a special place for its remarkably dainty, striking patterns (formed with thousands of dots, achieved by a meticulous hand-tying and multi-pronged dyeing process).
